Hockey
Falcon Girls Hockey Players are practising at the YK Arena on Saturday Oct. 3rd from 12:00-2:00pm.
Falcon Boys Hockey Players are practising at the Shorty Brown Arena (Multiplex) on Sunday Oct. 4th from 11:00am-1:00pm.
Soccer
All Outdoor Soccer Players, male and female, who have not yet signed the banner from the Hay River tournament, please see Burly at the beginning of lunch on Friday to sign it.
Yellowknife Athletic Football (Soccer) Club is holding try-outs for experienced female soccer players born in 1994-1995 starting October 3, 09. If interested, forms can be picked up at the office.

Wrestling
School wrestling: Students who are interested in participating in wresting at Sir John can come to the practice times at 3:45pm on most Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in the Fitness Center. See Burly for further information. First practice of the season is on Monday, Sept. 28th.
Fitness Room
Fitness Memberships: Students are reminded that they need to pay the $30 annual fee and complete a parental consent form by Oct. 1st if the wish to use the Falcon Fitness Center after school hours. The parental consent form and membership fee needs to go to Ms. Bieder, the finance secretary. Therefore students who have not paid their fee by Oct. 1st will not be able to use the fitness facility after school hours until they have paid the $30 fee. See Burly for questions/concerns.
Fitness consent forms for students who wish to become members of the fitness center are now available in the PE gym offices. See a PE instructor, Burly, Mr. Kilbride or Mr. Shearme for further information.
CULINARY CLUB
The Culinary Club will be hosting an Autumn Harvest Fundraising Dinner to continue to raise money for our trip to Spain. The dinner will be held on Saturday, October 10th at 5:30pm in the Sir John Franklin foyer. There will be a delicious 5 course seasonally-inspired meal. Tickets are $35 each and seating is limited. Contact Robyn Stewart by email or drop by room 42. You can pay in advance, or you an reserve a ticket and pay at the door. Cash or cheque.

All students planning to graduate in January or June and who
need an Advisory credit to do so, please come to see Ms. Bowden in the Student Support Area for the Advisory Assignment if you have not already received this. If you are not sure that you need this Advisory credit, please come and check with a counsellor. Thank you!

COATS FOR KIDS
YWCA Yellowknife is going to launch its annual Coats for Kids campaign next Friday. We will be collecting good used coats from the community and distribute tem to needy kids and their families. You can drop off your clean coats, boots, hats, gloves, and scarves October 2nd-16th at St. Patrick High School, Yellowknife Multiplex, or theYWCA Yellowknife Administration Office, downstairs.

ABORIGINAL OPPORTUNITIES
The Aboriginal Education Advisory Committee is seeking new members to become part of our team. We are looking for volunteers to contribute and partake in the initiatives the district is taking on within the Aboriginal Education Program. We meet monthly at the YK1 District Board Office, in the evening from 7:00 to 9:00PM. Our next meeting is Wednesday, October 14, 2009. Your commitment would be greatly appreciated to help increase the integration of Aboriginal studies into our schools and help further our Aboriginal Students at YK1.
TUTORING OPPORTUNITIES
Tutoring opportunity for a high school student: you would be working with a 12 year old male who is Grade 6 at Mildred Hall School to help develop reading skills. You should be patient, focused, and have a good sense of humor. Additional qualities would be having an interest in animals, fishing, bugs, video games, and Pokeman. Please come and see Ms. Bowden for further details if you are interested in this opportunity to collect CALM hours, or potentially get paid to tutor.
DIPLOMA EXAM WRITERS
Anyone wishing to challenge (rewrite) a diploma exam in January who is not currently registered in that course, please pick up a challenge form from the office. The deadline is October 15th.
