A new fundraising project has been implemented this year at Sir John. Students have the opportunity to donate their spare change (maybe empty out a piggy bank at home?) whenever they can. Funds collected will be distributed to various worthwhile causes such as local families affected by tragedies, the Yellowknife Food Bank, the Salvation Army, local shelters, etc. Funds will be collected on a monthly basis earning this project the title of “Charity of the Month”. The Student Council has wholeheartedly embraced this project and are helping with collecting funds. For more info about Charity of the Month, contact Sandra Nielsen.
Past Charities of the Month include: Run for Our Lives (money contributed as part of the SJF team in September), Maracle Family (over $400 raised in October), the Young Family (over $650 raised in January), 30 Hour Famine (over $10, 000 raised!) and Alex Sparling (over $1000 raised in November).
